The sector includes areas such as Emergency Services, Emergency Management, Community Safety Administration, Correctional Services, and the Armed Forces. With its low rates of unemployment and high future retirement rates, this sector offers excellent prospects for employment.
The Justice SHSM gives students an opportunity to specialize, gain qualifications, and plan a career pathway in various areas of the Community and Emergency Services sectors while still in high school. The SHSM Program has a number of required components, designed to give students a “leg-up” to pursue post-secondary opportunities in each of the identified sectors, valuing apprenticeship, college, community, university and the workplace.

Sector Partnered Experience (SPE):
- The SPE is a 6-hour activity with a career-related sector partner and allows students to work alongside an experienced professional. Students explore sector-related content, skills, and knowledge involving either ICE (innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship), coding, or mathematical literacy.
